Coming Together In Prayer

In a sunny island north of Malaysia, groups of friends hold weekly devotionals in every corner of the island to find inspiration and rejuvenate before the start of a new week. These devotionals, held in family homes, bring together people from all walks of life to engage in prayers and devotion. It is also a time of reflection and sharing as families often do.

Roshan, a young adult who moved here to study about two years ago, started participating in devotional gatherings in his neighbourhood after accepting an invitation from a friend. He feels a sense of calm and optimism after every devotional because The Word of God, according to him, has the power to inspire people to action.

“Two years ago, when I first moved here, I was extremely lonely and homesick. To make things worse, there was a miscommunication with my college and so they didn’t provide me a place to stay.

With very little money, I was sure to be homeless. I prayed and thought really hard about how to solve my problem. Somehow, God heard my prayers and a total stranger offered me a place to stay.

It felt like a miracle but I knew it was the power of prayer.

“Now, I often attend devotional gatherings to think about life and meet friends from my neighbourhood. It brings people together because we are all looking for inspiration and purpose. As we bond as a family, we will never feel alone,” Roshan shared.
